Entrepreneurs come in all forms with a variety of interests, so it only makes sense for Hub101 to partner with the USDA, Vsolvit and other government agencies to brainstorm ways to save the world via a hackathon.
Hacks4Health is the latest in a series of initiatives intended to promote creative methods for solving specific problems in regards to the nation’s health and wellbeing. Hackathons have evolved over time to become one of the premier methodologies for producing creative, modern solutions for problems in government policy.
The event will take place from September 23rd through the 25th at Hub101 in Westlake Village, and will focus specifically on the areas of health and nutrition. Participants will engineer new ways of tackling serious health problems via applications, business plans, or policy recommendations.
A panel of judges will determine winners based on the practicality of the proposed solutions and their potential for social impact. Prizes include $5,000 for first place and a one year internship in LARTA’s incubation facility; $2,500 for second place; and $1,000 for third place. Prizes will be awarded to teams, not individuals.
This will be a fast-paced event worth remembering! Participants will be invited to spend nights in the Hub101 facility, where there are showers, a bike sharing program, and a small-scale community kitchen. Some meals will also be provided by the hackathon sponsors over the course of the weekend. It is recommended that participants bring along a laptop, sleeping bag, toothbrush, and a healthy appetite!
