Long time community leader and Hub101 member Alon Goren joins Wavemaker Partners, an early stage venture capital firm led by Eric Manlunas and David Siemer, with offices in Los Angeles and Singapore, as a Venture Partner.
Aside from founding multiple startups and working at IMDb/Amazon and MySpace, Goren is the founder of 805 Startups, one of Southern California’s largest networks of startups and investors, with over 2,000 members. 805 Startups holds regular events and programs north of Los Angeles in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, a region that Wavemaker is very familiar with and will be spending more time in.
“Having worked with Eric and David in the past, I couldn’t think of a better firm to be working with,” said Alon Goren. “Wavemaker's active participation in the region gives startups access to seed and follow-on capital, while also giving the local affluent community access to investment opportunities around the world.”
In recent years, Wavemaker portfolio company, Mindbody, headquartered in San Luis Obispo, had a successful IPO and another Wavemaker portfolio company, Connexity also had a successful exit when it sold to Shopzilla.
As one of Southern California’s most active venture funds, Wavemaker and its principals have also seen successful exits from mDialog (Google), Connexity (Shopzilla), GradientX (Amobee/Singtel), Pulpo (Entravision) and Optimal (Brand Networks).
From your friends and family here at hub101, congratulations Alon!
